Online Road Test Scheduling

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: COVID19 Canceled Test Rescheduling

DMV is currently in the process of rescheduling all tests that have been canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Test dates are being reserved within July and August to accommodate these appointments. DMV has called or sent emailed invitations to all applicants that were canceled by DMV due to the pandemic. If you had an appointment that was canceled by DMV from March of 2020 through June of 2020 and have not been contacted, please send an email to DMV.Exams@dmv.ri.gov with your name, phone number, date of cancelation and permit number. A DMV representative will get back to you with options for test dates.

Road Test Self-Scheduling

We are happy to now offer the convenience to self-schedule and modify your appointment online from your home computer or mobile device.

You can reschedule or review your appointment online, even if your original appointment was made in person at the DMV.

For the best selection of locations, dates, and times, we recommend you schedule your appointment as far in advance as possible. To schedule your appointment, you will need to have the following items ready:

  • Your valid learner’s permit
  • A printer (to print receipt if desired)
  • A major Credit Card (if fee is applicable)

Appointment Availability

Additional appointment dates and times may become available each day and are offered on a first come first serve basis. While mandatory waiting periods do apply, users may move their appointments to a sooner appointment date at no charge when one becomes available. We recommend that permit holders log in to the online scheduler regularly to check for availability of a desired date and time.

Cancelling or Re-Scheduling

Permit holders may also use this service to cancel and/ or re-schedule existing appointments at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time without incurring any additional fees.
