Registration Renewal
All registration renewals must be processed by mail, online with a credit card or deposited in the drop-boxes located at any DMV branch location. If you are a AAA member you can renew your registration at any AAA branch office.
By Mail
- Send the Registration Renewal notice to the Division of Motor Vehicles Attn: Registration Renewal, 600 New London Avenue, Cranston RI 02920. If you did not receive a notice in the mail use the Registration Renewal form.
- Costs are listed in the DMV Fee Table
Online
- When renewing your vehicle registration online follow the instructions provided.
- Refer to the table of plate types to determine if you can renew your vehicle's registration online.
Municipal Tax Restrictions: If you pay property taxes to one of the following towns for your vehicle; Barrington, Central Falls, Exeter, or Warren you may not use the online renewal service due to municipal tax clearance requirements.
Please Note: Leased vehicles can now be renewed online. However, leased vehicle owners will not be able to update or change the address on the registration.
Drop Box
- Deposit your Registration Renewal notice or Registration Renewal form in drop-boxes located at all DMV branch locations.
Outstanding Taxes
- Check with your Tax Assessor to see if you owe property taxes on your vehicle. If you have outstanding taxes, the DMV will not be able to renew your registration. Pay your property tax and have the Tax Assessor stamp your renewal form as proof of payment.
