The Pawtucket branch is the Division of Motor Vehicles' headquarters. ALL registration and license transactions are performed here, in addition to title transactions, CDL examinations, enforcement functions, safety responsibility, oversize and overweight load permits, school bus certification, and handicap parking permit applications.
Written Exams for Driver's Licenses are administered Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Eye Test will be given at this time. No appointment is necessary - tests are given on a first come, first served basis.
CDL Tests are given daily until 2:00 PM. Only one of each CDL exam will be administered per applicant per day. If an applicant does not achieve a passing score on any exam, the applicant must wait 5 business days before applying to re-take that portion of the exam.
Road tests are given from the parking lot of the Lynch Ice Arena, 25 Andrew Ferland Way, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
Directions: From I-95 North: Take exit 27. At second light turn left onto Pine St. Follow to end & take a right onto Goff Ave. Go to next light at Dexter St. Take a left & continue one block. ROAD TEST Site arena is on the right.
From I-95 South: Take exit 29, Fountain St. Turn right at the top of the exit ramp & follow to the end. Take a right onto Exchange St. Go to the 5th light Dexter St. & turn right. Continue one block. ROAD TEST site arena is on the right.
Free parking in the Apex parking lot except for those spaces marked for Apex customers.
