Alcohol Reinstatement Fees

All reinstatements of driving privileges are conducted at the Adjudication Office of the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles. The Adjudication Office is located on the first floor of the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles, 600 New London Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.

When a motorist satisfies all court-ordered suspension requirements, as well as any Division of Motor Vehicle suspension requirements, the motorist may reinstate his/her driving privilege. Alcohol-related license suspensions also result in the suspension of a motorist's registration privileges that requires payment of a separate fee to reinstate. Alcohol-related reinstatement fees are as follows:

  • Alcohol-related license reinstatement fee: $351.50*
  • Registration reinstatement fee (required if you have a vehicle currently registered in your name, or plan to register a vehicle in your name): $251.50*
  • Alcohol Education Program: $350.00
  • Ignition Interlock Device – DMV Fee: $100.00
  • Updated License (indicating the hardship license and/or ignition interlock device restrictions): $6.50* (if applicable)

*Fee includes a $1.50 technology charge.

Accepted forms of payment are cash, credit or debit card, and check or money order. Please be mindful that the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles does not accept payment over the phone. If you are going to make payment with another person's credit or debit card, or personal check, that person must be with you at the time of payment.
