If you have lost or misplaced your title, you can apply for a duplicate certificate of title. Duplicate titles can only be applied for in the Title Office, Monday through Friday at the Pawtucket DMV, located at 100 Main Street, Pawtucket. You must fill out the Duplicate Title form completely, have the form notarized and pay a $51.50 fee.

 

• Only the owner(s) listed on the original title may apply for a duplicate title. In cases where the lien is still in effect, the lien holder may apply. This process can take up to 15 days.
• If the original title listed a lien holder and the loan has been paid in full, a Release of Lien must accompany the application for a duplicate title.
• Owner's signatures must be notarized. The notary signing the application must sign and print his or her name.

PLEASE NOTE: The DMV is currently titling vehicles that are 2000 and newer.

Vehicles that are 10 years old and older are no longer titled in the State of Rhode Island. The Registration Files section in the Pawtucket DMV branch can assist you in documenting the vehicle's information.
