• If you already have a registered vehicle and purchase another to replace it, you can transfer the registration and plates to the new vehicle. The name on the registration must remain the same.
• The fee for a registration transfer is $16.50, plus all applicable sales tax and title fees.
• You will receive a registration only. No stickers will be issued. The expiration on your current stickers will be valid.
  

Plate Changes

• If you wish to change your current plate to another plate, or if you have lost one or both plates, you must do a plate change. The fee for a plate change is $21.50.
• You must turn in both plates to the DMV. If you have lost one or both plates, you must report the plates lost or stolen to your local police department and present a copy of the police report to the DMV.
• If you wish to change plates on two vehicles registered in your name, the fee is $41.50.
  Examples:

  Sue has a car registered with plate XX-111. She wants to change to plate ZZ-999. She must turn in the registration and plates for XX-111 and pay a $21.50 fee.

  John owns two cars - a Taurus with plate AB-111 and a Mustang with plate AB-222. To put plate AB-111 on the Mustang and AB-222 on the Taurus, he must do a two-way plate change with a fee of $41.50.
